Celebrating 20 Years of Powering Your Firewood Business

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

Why We Love Our Equipment – Celebrating 20 Years with Our Customers

As we step into our 20th anniversary year, we want to pause and reflect on what truly built Blacks Creek and Black Horse over the last two decades — the customers who put our equipment to work every single day. February is about appreciation, shared stories, and celebrating the real-world operations behind the machines we build.

For 20 years, you’ve trusted us to design and manufacture equipment that works hard, lasts longer, and stands up to the demands of forestry and firewood production. That trust means everything to us, and this month, we want to say thank you by highlighting the people and businesses who rely on our equipment.

We’re proud to kick things off with a customer story from Arnott’s Firewood & Equipment in Goulais River, Ontario, who recently shared why they love their Blacks Creek processor. Stories like theirs remind us why we do what we do — and why building dependable, Canadian-made equipment still matters.

We are a small, family-owned firewood business located in Goulais River, Ontario. Owned and operated by John and Hannah Arnott, we’ve been proudly serving our community since 2022 as an Indigenous-owned business focused on producing high-quality, specialty firewood products. From firewood sold by the face cord to wholesale bundles and custom firewood products, quality has always been at the core of what we do. In 2023, we expanded our operation and since have been operating a Blacks Creek Processor.

We chose the Blacks Creek 2000B-XL processor because it allows us to produce the exact type of high-quality firewood our business is built around. Before this machine, we were hand-cutting with a chainsaw, using a small splitter from a local hardware store, and purchasing pre-split wood. The 2000B-XL gave us the ability to fully process our own firewood, grow our production capacity, and maintain consistent quality.

This machine has also allowed us to create custom-specification products and lengths to better serve our customers — something that’s become a key part of our business. With the 16-foot standalone conveyor, 6×8 hydraulic infeed table, and both 4-way and 6-way wedges, we can efficiently process directly into trailers, trucks, or storage bins, saving time and reducing handling.

Just as important as the machine itself has been the customer service from Blacks Creek. From the initial quote and sales process to after-sale technical and warranty support, their team has been absolutely outstanding. They’ve consistently gone above and beyond to support us, stand behind their products, and provide knowledgeable, responsive service whenever we’ve needed it.

The Blacks Creek 2000B-XL has played a huge role in helping our business grow from a small, hands-on operation into a more efficient, scalable firewood business — without compromising the quality our customers expect.
